New Mexico will begin a “slight reopening” Saturday, as retail stores, offices and call centers can open at 25 percent capacity, “big box” stores and large retailers can open at 20 percent capacity and houses of worship can open at 10 percent capacity. The northwest part of the state, where the Navajo Nation has been heavily impacted by the virus, will remain closed. Gov. Most recently, Gov. David Ige, a Democrat, announced gatherings will be allowed to increase and restaurants will be allowed to operate at 75 percent of capacity starting July 8. Travel restrictions will also be eased for fully vaccinated individuals from other U.S. states and territories. Once the state achieves a 70 percent vaccination rate, restrictions will be lifted.

Data from both the Kaiser Family Foundation and New York Timesshows that the number of states that have ordered residents to stay at home reached 33 as of 02 April, 2020. Several others have taken some kind of action but fallen short of state-wide action. Mississippi is an example of a state announcing restrictions for certain counties while Utah and Georgia have told their high-risk groups to stay home.
