New Mexico will begin a “slight reopening” Saturday, as retail stores, offices and call centers can open at 25 percent capacity, “big box” stores and large retailers can open at 20 percent capacity and houses of worship can open at 10 percent capacity. The northwest part of the state, where the Navajo Nation has been heavily impacted by the virus, will remain closed. Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, issued an order in late May which fully lifted the few remaining mitigation rules for a number of businesses, including restaurants, bars, conventions and live performance venues. On June 15, Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, lifted social distancing and capacity restrictions on businesses and activities. Masks will still be required in indoor settings for unvaccinated people and proof of vaccination or negative tests will be requested at large indoor events through Oct. 1. Further research is needed to assess the impact of reduced population movement and other community mitigation strategies on the spread of COVID-19.
Restrictions lifted in Virginia

Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, lifted the state’s gatherings and face mask order for a full reopening on June 22, more than a week sooner than previously planned. Gov. J.B. Pritzker, a Democrat, moved the state into Phase 5 of reopening, which removed capacity limits, on June 11. —Further reopening plans will be announced before the current executive order expires on July 4.

The state Supreme Court agreed Dec. 20, 2021, to hear a case regarding Dane County's COVID-19 restrictions. The decision to take the case comes a year after the justices declined to accept a similar case from the same plaintiffs; they are expected to hear arguments in summer 2022. Any ruling the court issues could have broad implications for what limits local governments can put in place to fight the coronavirus pandemic. At the end of March, the court declared the statewide mask mandate invalid and blocked Gov. Tony Evers from issuing any new public health emergency orders mandating face masks without the legislature's approval.

Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, ended a mask mandate on June 2, and most coronavirus health orders were lifted. Mr. DeWine ended the state of emergency on June 18 and eased restrictions on nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, lifted a statewide mask mandate on April 28. Gov. Asa Hutchinson, a Republican, lifted the statewide mask requirement starting March 30 but said that businesses still have the right to ask customers to wear masks.

Restrictions lifted in Georgia

Ms. Bresaw’s role focuses on program development, coordination and alignment, monitoring and evaluation, and sustainability planning. At Granite United Way, Ms. Bresaw oversees public health strategies and initiatives and works to align these efforts with existing collaborations, partnerships, and Community Health Improvement Plans. In addition, Ms. Bresaw provides overall leadership and coordination to statewide public health efforts on behalf of Granite United Way, with a particular focus on addressing NH’s current opioid crisis. Dr. Sullivan is dedicated to building effective and efficient delivery of health care and social services to Hoosiers.
He sponsors the “New York Health” bill to create a state single-payer universal health plan and sponsored NY’s medical marijuana law. Member of NY Academy of Medicine, National Academy for State Health Policy, Reforming States Group, NYC Bar Association, and NY Civil Liberties Union. Katie Wunderlich began her tenure as Executive Director of the Health Services Cost Review Commission in September 2018. In that role, she has lead the Commission through the transition from the hospital-based All-Payer Model to the Total Cost of Care Model, which focuses on hospital and non-hospital system transformation to enhance patient care, improve health, and lower costs. Before joining the HSCRC in 2016, Ms. Wunderlich was a Deputy Legislative Officer in Governor Hogan’s Legislative Office.
Most recently, Gov. David Ige, a Democrat, announced gatherings will be allowed to increase and restaurants will be allowed to operate at 75 percent of capacity starting July 8. Travel restrictions will also be eased for fully vaccinated individuals from other U.S. states and territories. Once the state achieves a 70 percent vaccination rate, restrictions will be lifted.
Data from both the Kaiser Family Foundation and New York Timesshows that the number of states that have ordered residents to stay at home reached 33 as of 02 April, 2020. Several others have taken some kind of action but fallen short of state-wide action. Mississippi is an example of a state announcing restrictions for certain counties while Utah and Georgia have told their high-risk groups to stay home. All rural-urban strata were represented in the subset of counties after accounting for the postorder period. The last Safer Apart Order, which had been effective May 5, 2021, ended May 31.
